Low- and high-pressure valves
Eurocommerciale has a rich catalogue with many types of valves in La Spezia. A valve is a mechanic component used to intercept and adjust the liquid or gas flows. They are screwed on pipes because they guarantee the specific pressure and flow rates. Butterfly valves

Check valves
The check valves are first of all composed by an element on a track, pushed against the base through a spring. The element might be a disk, a sphere or another element. The push happens when there is not enough pressure to open the valve, or when the pressure is negative. In these two cases the valve remains closed, whereas when the pressure is positive it opens.
